The club was established in Wilmslow in September 1982 to practise Shotokan
Karate (Kanazawa Ryu) together with Tai Chi (Yang Style) and Kobudo training.
Chief instructors John
and Alan Titley, both 6th Dan, began their martial
arts training in 1969 with the Karate Union of Great Britain.
In 1982, they joined Shotokan Karate International (SKI) followed by
Watford-based Jin Sei Kai (Kanazawa Ryu).
In Jan 2002, the club joined Shotokan Karate-Do Kanazawa Ryu International
Federation (SKKIF), led by Sensei Roger Carpenter (7th Dan).
SKKIF is the host association to the world’s largest Karate organisation, Shotokan Karate International Federation (SKIF)
Tokyo, headed by world renowned
Kancho Hirokazu Kanazawa (10th Dan).
Over the years, the club has been honoured to train with many top Japanese and
UK Instructors amongst whom are:- Kancho Kanazawa and his sons Nobuaki, Daizo
and Fumitoshi Kanazawa, Enoeda, Asano, Kawasoe, Kasuya, Murakami, Donovan,
Perry and Hooper Senseis.
